4 Reasons Why You Should Be Dry Brushing

You brush your hair and your teeth everyday, hopefully! So why not add brushing your skin to your daily self care routine?

I’m sure you’re wondering what is dry brushing and it is exactly what it sounds like. Simply put, it’s systematically brushing your skin with a dry brush before showering. Beside helping to rid your body of dead skin cells prior to showering, dry brushing has the following benefits:

1. LYMPHATIC SUPPORT - You can literally help boost your immune system with dry brushing.  Our immune systems are comprised of a series of vessels and ducts which transport lymph nodes throughout our bodies just under the skin’s surface. When our bodies do not have a healthy lymphatic system, we are susceptible to colds and illnesses. Dry brushing helps to stimulate the lymphatic system, by increasing the flow of lymph nodes and helping the body to detoxify itself naturally.

2. SHRINKING PORES - Dry brushing exfoliates the skin, removing surface toxins, dirt, oil, and debris from your pores.  Our pores begin to shrink when we keep them clean and free of dirt and oils.

3. MINIMIZE CELLULITE - Dry brushing helps to soften skin and can help to soften and break up the fat deposits that form cellulite under the skins surface.

4. BOOSTS YOUR ENERGY - Because dry brushing helps to increase circulation, it really helps to get your blood flowing and can increase your energy levels naturally.  For this reason, we recommend dry brushing in the morning, as opposed to right before bed.

There are many different dry brushes to choose from. To increase the benefits, we recommend you use a dry brush made of natural products such as bamboo, as opposed to one made with synthetic bristles. If you are just starting out, choose a brush with medium firmness and apply light pressure as brush.  Over time you will begin to work your way up to firmer brushes and applying more pressure.

It’s all in the technique. Take a look at the below pictorial on how to properly dry brush get maximum results!
